Yorelys Rivera Amador has 23 years of experience in the field of communications and in the development and implementation of programs within community-based organizations. Her career spans areas such as community engagement, cultural adaptation, public relations, strategic communication, crisis management, advocacy, health communication, social marketing, and media relations.
Since 2001, she has been part of Iniciativa Comunitaria de Investigación, Inc., where she has held various positions, including Director of Community Relations, Director of Community Development, Research Administrator, and, since 2017, has served as Executive Director.Yorelys's career has centered in advocating for people experiencing homelessness, individuals with problematic substance use, and people living with HIVIAIDS, focusing on the challenges they face in accessing quality medical care.
Under her leadership, she has coordinated research efforts and promoted the development of public policies aimed at ensuring inclusive, non-discriminatory healthcare, as well as the implementation of strategies to raise awareness about the importance of preventive health. She has also advocated for increased public funding for community health programs.
She is also an active advocate for mental health, emphasizing the importance of addressing this dimension within the framework of public health.
